Going into the 22/23’ wrenching season we’re stocked up in front and rear hubs. Read below for our new rear hub solution we’ve developed and tested to replace the unobtanium MR2 rear hubs. Keep an eye out for new products this winter. We have a massive big brake kit that’s been vetted and ready for prime time, new mono ball bushings and a few other products in the early development phase.

Cracked Hubs
As a community we’ve taken the Miata platform much further than Mazda could have ever imagined. Unfortunately this has led to some pretty spectacular failures in both the front and rear hubs
Luckily the driver was able to feel this one letting go and get off track before losing a wheel and balling up the car.
You can see here that the cracks originate at the root of the machining but are caused by the forces transferred through the wheel studs into the thin flange
We have developed a package of parts to allow the use of the BMW E30 wheel bearing that is designed for a much heavier chassis and has the typical German engineered safety factors that give you a crack proof design. This package will maintain all Miata specific dimensions and will work with any off the shelf big brake kit and all OEM hardware.
The BroFab Solution
It all begins with a proven hub/bearing design from the BMW E30 chassis. When combined with a set of precision machined adapters these hubs bolt on like stock maintaining all OEM dimensions, working with any stock or big brake kit. We can even custom machine Mazda ABS rings to work. These bearings sport a hub flange that is over 3 times thicker than a Mazda bearing and the ball bearings are ~10% larger as well. Both the economy and racer kits are guaranteed for life against cracks and other catastrophic failures.
Toyota Rear Hub Conversion
Offered by popular demand we are now machining Toyota Yaris rear hubs to fit on the Miata platform. We’ve had to switch to the Yaris due to the availability of quality MR2 hubs. The Yaris hubs have proven every bit as effective as the MR2 and in some ways stronger where it matters in the root of the hub.
We machine these hubs to fit like stock with the use of the spacer shim and HD washer. These will accept Miata 94+ rear wheel studs (.587” knurl) Our complete kits include all the necessary hardware, ARP or Dfuser studs as well as proven SKF bearings. This cutaway shows where the meat of the hub is added to prevent cracking.
Economical Replacement Bearings
The BroFab hub solution leverages German engineered bearings that are readily available at almost any parts store. These bearings combined with precision adapters make up the BroFab hub kits. With one small machining process these bearings can be replaced for $45 for China based economy bearings or $145 for Timkin/FAG manufactured bearings so you’ll save money for as long as you own the car. The FAG bearings have been proven to last 100’s of hours on spec E30 racers and other BMW TT cars. When utilized on our lightweight chassis the lifespan has yet to be found, they just keep going and going. The economy bearings affectionately nick named the “Poverty bearing” is very popular with the track day and auto-x crowd since they can be replaced extremely cheaply and are showing great life in applications short of all out competition. As an added bonus these bearings use easy to install screw in studs, which are reusable. Our kits include 190,000 psi rated Bimmerworld race studs that are the go to for BMW endurance racers.
Complete Kits
Both front and rear hub kits come complete with all necessary hardware to install on your car. Seals, cir-clips, axle nuts, and the best available wheel studs are included.
